Welcome to the LST933 Homepage!

Dedication                                 mls

This page is dedicated to the memory of Lt. Margil Leroy Stokes, USN, 30 July 1907 - 22 December 1990.  He was the "Plank Owner" Skipper  of the 933 from the date it was commissioned, 20 August 1944 until his reassignment on 5 August 1945.  The two battle stars for WWII combat service were earned by the 933 crew during his "watch".  He enlisted in the US Navy on 18 October 1924 and saw continuous service until his release from active duty and transfer to the Fleet Reserve on 14 December 1946.  On 6 September 1950 he was recalled to active duty until 31 August 1952.
